PS I love you...
Today I finished this book. I really enjoyed it but I didn't loved it as much as the movie. I saw the movie and I really loved it. Gerry played by Butler is perfect (He really is 'Gerry'...that's cool!) I want a Gerry too :( Daniel was lovely and Holly doesn't have 432.023.432 of brothers and sisters! At the beginning of the book it was hard to know each one of them. One of the thing I loved the most about the book is that, despite the fact that it's a love story (the kind of book I hate the most) it's not too much sweet. It explain of difficult is to grow for a girl who is near thirty like me so I could recognize in different situations she lived also if she did lots and lots of things for her young age. Another thing I loved is the fact that Gerry was so amazing to be on the book since the end also if he wasn't there and in both book and movie I felt sad for his death but tecnically we didn't know him...but he was so awesome that we felt Holly's pain. Something that I didn't like is how it ended between Holly and Daniel! I hope that they will end togheter at least on the book and if the message have to be that they are not meant to be, I prefer their story on the movie, that kiss and the fact that was like kiss a brother/sister plus the movie has JD Morgan that in the book doen't exist! So, if you have read the book and see the movie, what do you prefer? Have you enjoyed this story? What's your opinion about it?

I only saw the movie but I haven't read the book. Heard it's a little different, that's why I wanted to check it out. :)

Oh yes, the book very different from the movie and I think this is the first time in my life where I prefer the movie! The atmosphere is the same but the story is completly different! Just as example Holly in the movie come from America and only Gerry is Irish while, in the book both are Irish. This is just one of the thousand different thing but the movie is awesome and I loved the story!
elfert[info]elfert on November 14th, 2009 02:25 pm (UTC)
Saw the movie first then read the book :)
I like both very much. The plot of the stories are the same but they are two different stories. I think it was better to see the movie before reading the book. Anyways, I'm a fan of both and I do own the book & the movie :)

I don't want to say something worn but I'm pretty sure that I saw the movie and I bought the book because of you! You suggest me to watch the movie first and I listen to you at 50% because in my experience it's always better read the book first so I start to read the book and when I was in the middle of the story I saw the movie and I LOVED it! Gerry was awesome!!! loved also Butler and Hilary as Gerry and holly! They were perfect for the role but honestly I prefered the movie.... you were right! :P Thanks for the suggestion. What are you reading now?!!? XD
elfert[info]elfert on November 14th, 2009 08:56 pm (UTC)
Nope, you're right :)
I did suggest the book & the movie. Glad you enjoyed both.

Butler & Hilary were awesome! I pictured them when I was reading the book :)

Not really reading anything at the moment. I'm planning on watching My Sister's Keeper and then read the book. Do you have any suggestions?
Cinzia[info]cinzia81 on November 14th, 2009 10:31 pm (UTC)
before this I read Time Traveler's Wife. I don't know if you've already read it but it's very very nice and, most of all...very original! I can't wait to watch the movie now! Before that I read World without End...I have still to finish it because this book is "without end" but it's one of the most amazing book I've ever read! Ken Follet is Awesome so I suggest you that. There are no movie for that book but it deserve to be read! I hope to finish it soon!

Cinzia[info]cinzia81 on November 16th, 2009 10:27 am (UTC)
Honestly I think that PS I love you was an exception but usually it's better read the book first...
elfert[info]elfert on November 16th, 2009 01:13 pm (UTC)
True. Well, whatever I get first will be what I read/watch first :P
